Coronavirus Update

Temporary YMCA Closure Extended

Dear Members, Program Participants, and Guests,

As the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we are all facing difficult decisions about our own health and safety and that of our family members.  At the Canton Family YMCA, your leadership staff and board members have been processing the ever-changing information to determine what is best for everyone in our community. In the light of recommendations from the CDC, Governor Pritzker, the Illinois State Alliance of YMCAs, and the YMCA of the USA, the Canton Family YMCA Executive Committee voted to close the YMCA to members and guests until further notice.

Membership Options During the Temporary Closure

During the temporary closure, please email us at Check our website and Facebook page for more information.

We miss all of our members and guests, and hope to reopen soon. We will continue to post any new information or updates on Facebook and our website.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of uncertainty. Thank you for supporting our Y and our Y staff who proudly serve you. We know that together, we can get through this challenging time and continue to serve you, your family, your neighbors, and the Canton community.

Frequently Asked Questions:

When will the Y be open again?

We have planned a 2 week closure at this time. The Y will reassess and update all members and participants through email, website, and Facebook no later than Monday, April 6.

My child was registered for a program or sport taking place in Winter Session III. Will I be refunded my payment?

As of right now, we plan to extend Winter Session III (previously March 16- April 19) for two weeks. The new session end date will be May 3. The soccer season will also be extended for two weeks.

I signed my child up for Kids’ Day Off over Spring Break. Are you offering care during this time?

No, we have cancelled our Spring Break Kid’s Day Off to keep our staff and families healthy. If you pre-paid for this program, your account will be credited for those fees.

I was in the Y recently. Should I be concerned?

As of now, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Fulton County. However, we all need to be aware of the potential spread of the virus and monitor ourselves and loved ones for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you or a loved one develop these symptoms, please stay home and speak to your healthcare provider. For more information, go to the CDC information page on COVID-19 to learn more.
