2019 Boy Scout Merit Badge Days at the Y

Boy Scout Troops can use the Y to earn merit badges, such as swimming, lifesaving, first aid. and scuba. The Y also facilitates swim tests for troops. Girl Scouts are invited to use the Y to learn skills as well.

Filled out merit badge worksheet and homemade personal First Aid kit

Second class 7.b (prepare personal first aid kit), Merit badge requirement 2.d (prepare personal home first aid kit)

Comfortable clothes for physical activity  

Partial Merit Badge Day
Finish partial badges in swimming, lifesaving, and First Aid.
$20 per badge.

August 17: 9am-12 pm (Swimming & Lifesaving)

12:15 pm-3:30 pm (First Aid)

Read Merit Badge Books and fill out merit badge work sheets.

*It is suggested that scouts be decent swimmers for Swimming and Lifesaving merit badges

Boy Scout Swimming Days at the Canton YMCA

Bring your Scouts to the Canton Family YMCA to work on Swimming Advancement, requirements, and awards. Our instructors will teach basic water safety, stroke development, and technique while helping your scout earn:

We will work on:Tiger Scout: Boats and Floats

Wolf: Spirit of the Water
Bear: Salmon Run
Webelos: Aquanaut

Boy Scouts - 2nd (8.a b c), 1st (9.a b c) class aquatic requirements, and BSA swim test strengthening

Schedule a time for your Pack/Troop to earn their aquatic requirements/advancement, general time frame for Cub Scouts and Webelos 1 1/2 hours.

Cost per Scout: $10
Dates: June 15 or October 26
Time: 11:30 am-12:30 pm

Registration ends the Thursday (11:59pm) before the Swim date, so that we can BE PREPARED to give you the best experience. Some scouts might meed more instruction to develop the coordination.

Swim Lessons for Troops
Per Scout
Private $15 Ratios 1:1 1 half hour lesson
Semi-private $35 1:3 10 half hour to forty-five minute lessons
Patrol lessons $26 1:6-7 10 forty-five minute lessons
Troop instruction—bring your Troop in for one-hour of swim instruction $8 a scout minimum 7 scouts.
